Athlete monitoring can be tricky. Words like “prediction”, “accuracy”, “reliability”, “profiling” and “waste of time” get used quite a bit when it comes to how/why/if athlete monitoring fits into a coach’s repertoire.
But, athlete monitoring is key for any coach who wants to become more scientific because it allows us to develop and test our training hypotheses. In short, each training program is a chance to do science.
It is also key for helping athletes recover after injury and ensure that training load errors and imbalances don’t lead to further injury. Download your free copy of the JSCEP Guide to Athlete Monitoring Below and consider signing up for the JSCEP Course #5 if you want to learn more!
